It Starts With Us

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chr. 7:14

Our nation needs healing on so many different levels. We don’t have just one problem but a host. The first thing is for God’s people to pray, repent for their part, and seek God. It starts with us. This is not a time to point fingers at others but to let God change each of us. He can and will hear and restore our land.

Come near to God, and He will come near to you. James 4:8
If you’re not as close to God as you once were, guess what? It wasn’t God that moved. No matter where you are or what you have done, if you move closer to God, He promises to move closer to you. You don’t have to change first. Move first and then change will be the result. Start talking to Him again. Spend time in His word. Open your heart to Him and He will open His heart to you.

Adopted as His Own

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba, Father.” Rom. 8:15

Do you realize that no one is born a child of God? We have to be adopted by Him into His family. He wants children, not slaves. This happens when we surrender to Jesus Christ and allow God’s Spirit to live in us. God then gives us the privilege to call Him Father.

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Col. 3:13

Sometimes we are so quick to point out someone’s faults. We almost relish in it. When we see other’s shortcomings, we somehow feel better about ours. But that is not God’s way. Let’s show the same grace to others that God has shown to us…and that’s a lot!
